What this site is, and how it is paid for

GarageVerdict is an independent editorial site about the tools kept in a home garage — diagnostic scanners and code readers, battery chargers, maintainers and jump starters, jacks, axle stands and ramps, socket sets, torque wrenches and impact wrenches, oil and brake service tools, polishers and bodywork tools — and the pads, leads, gauges, plugs and extractors that go with them. It does not cover vehicle spare parts, whose references depend on the model and year of a particular car. Rated capacities, stated torque accuracies, cranking currents, working pressures and duty cycles published by manufacturers are reported as such, with their source named and never derived by us. The site publishes no tightening torque for any specific vehicle: those values are published by the manufacturer of the car, per fastener. Nothing here replaces the vehicle's own workshop manual, which governs in particular brake, steering and suspension work — and one statement is repeated on every page that touches lifting: a jack lifts a car and axle stands hold it. It is funded by Amazon affiliate links: a purchase made after following one of our links may earn us a commission, at no additional cost to you. How that works, and what stops it from steering our verdicts, is set out on the affiliate disclosure page.

Ratings and recommendations here are editorial judgements. They are not professional advice and carry no guarantee of outcome.
